Hilton Foods are a leading international food and supply chain service partner to leading retailers, global brands and the food service sector. Hilton Foods operate across five categories: Meat, Seafood, Vegan & Vegetarian, Easier meals and Supply Chain Services.
Problem Statement: A solution for palletising plastic crates which will eliminate or minimise manual lifting.
Overview: All finished product from a food production factory is plastic in plastic crates and stores in an automated warehouse. When retrieved, these crates must be removed from a conveyor belt, approx.. 1m high and built into pallets. Currently this is done manually, however an automated or assisted solution is desired. The crates are all the same design and footprint however there are 3 different heights.
Currently they are removed individually or up to 4 crates at a time depending on weight which can range on individual crates from 2kg to 16.5kg.
Speed: It is required to stack 15 crates from the conveyor belt to an adjacent pallet per minute.
Space: There is approx. 2.5m x 2.5m space to carry out this task.
Challenge: Have the flexibility & maneuverability to lift a range of crates and stack on a nearby pallet while meeting the speed requirement in the space available.
Join us on March 13th for more insight into Hilton Food’s challenge.
