We are delighted to present a challenge from Boxing Ireland on Wednesday, 8th April at 2pm

Boxing Ireland is the all-island Governing Body of Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport. Home to over 360 boxing clubs across 32 counties, our membership exceeds 25,000 people, ranging in age from 5 to 80+.

Boxing Ireland is looking to identify and validate a computer vision/AI tool capable of delivering trustworthy, objective data on punch volume and outcome (thrown, landed, missed, blocked) that aligns with expert human analysis, ultimately enhancing training load assessment for international competition by 2026.

The Core Problem: While AI tools offer deep performance metrics, their reliability remains unproven against the Irish Boxing High Performance program’s bespoke analysis. The challenge is to determine which specific punch metrics are accurate enough to replace or augment conventional notational analysis, ensuring the data truly reflects competitive demands.

Desired Outcome: By 2026, the program will operate a trusted, usable system focused strictly on punch metrics (total thrown, landed, missed, blocked) to objectively measure external training load and match international competitive intensity.
