Horse Sport Ireland is the Governing Body for equestrian sport in Ireland and is also responsible for the management and administration of several sport horse studbooks. In the studbook side of the business, we maintain records on over 550,000 animals and 190,000 people. We are currently in the process of changing database provider and preparing our data for migration to the new platform. Our current database was custom built approx. 15 year ago, however data input is primarily manual and there were no internal controls or checks put in to stop mistakes from occurring.

Prior to the data migration, there is a challenge around cleaning the data in an accurate and efficient manner. Several data integrity issues have already been identified whereby both animals and people have multiple records associated with them, in some cases parents were born before their supposed progeny, and in others there are stallions in as mothers and mares in as fathers. We require someone to develop a system that can analyse our current database and find and fix the above errors and identify any other potential errors prior to migrating to our new system.
